Manaola Yap brings his design talents, flair for visual storytelling and unique aloha style together in his eponymous label Manaola Hawai‘i. Looking beyond the aloha shirt and mu‘umu‘u, his line combines the aesthetics of two distinct, and often conflicting, trends—traditional Islandwear and modern haute couture—to create luxury pieces that remain true to his rich Hawaiian heritage.
Honolulu-based brand Reyn Spooner has been, for generations, a key player in the evolution of the aloha shirt in local fashion. Started in the 1950s, the brand redefined alohawear through the incorporation of stylish prints, quality fabrics and modern cuts, elevating its status to the iconic attire it’s known as today. Celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, the brand will show six decades of alohawear on the runway, beginning with vintage Reyn Spooner pieces and ending with its 60th anniversary collection, which debuted earlier this year.
